Joseph Konty, born in the summer of 1982 in Denver, CO., raised in Texas and moving all around, is embarking on a new chapter. With 4 independent studio albums, 2 independent live albums and 2 independent critically acclaimed singles under his belt, he is at the pinnacle of things opening up wide. The last few years have included many successes and hardships, of which his last tour in 2008 – 2009 was the transformation. From major concert venues, to opening up and working with national artists , amazing fans and his love philanthropy work, Joseph Konty is here.
He is now gearing up for a major market release with Doug Brown of GOE Entertainment, out of Orlando, FL. Joseph and Mr. Brown joined up on the last wing of his 08 – 09 tours. “Doug has followed me for a while and always saw the direction and talent in what I had to offer with my songs and voice. I respect him, his many accomplishments, his knowledge and integrity. He has become a good friend to me, along with an amazing manager,” Joseph.
In the preparation time Joseph has once again started his pursuit in grad school focusing heavily on the study of voice under his professor Dr. Tuttle. “For the first time, since I began, I know my voice. I love the study of voice and the many hidden things it has to offer. It is not like any other instrument. To study the science and spirit of it is something worth going after. I owe a lot to Dr. Tuttle for guiding me,” Joseph. Along with this preparation time has come many new songs and the mending of old ones. Joseph is focused on his songwriting pursuit, incorporating all aspects of life. This includes his spirituality, sexuality diverted from the mainstream view, love, searching and care for humanity.
Musically, instrumentally and vocally Joseph has always be inspired by Gospel music, Soul, R&B and Motown. “I really got turned on to all of it while attending church in Texas and singing in the choir, along with the music my mother & father enjoyed. Plus, my older brother with his Montell Jordan cassette. I really dove deep into Soul/ R&B in about 5th and 6th grade. There was a station that played slow jams on Friday and Saturday nights. I would sit for hours and marvel in the sounds coming out of my big stereo my Grandad gave me. I went down other roads musically for a while; due primarily to the culture around me, along with some insecurity I had. Finally, I decided I needed to do the things I loved. So, I chased after Soul/R&B music,” Joseph.
Joseph’s voice and guitar playing do not come from any particular influence, but primarily the sounds and feelings of what he loved. However, he always has noted his love for Marvin Gaye and Prince. Along with Boyz II Men being one of his favorite groups of all time. These artists had/have this genius about them, a genius that carries beyond style or sound, but carries a way of life. “I never really had any guitar heroes. I tried, but in the end I just enjoyed things that were well put together and produced. I enjoyed diverse sounds and creativity. Prince, however, has always inspired me with my artistry. Also, the sounds of Motown are a huge proponent in my inspiration,” Joseph.
Joseph Konty’s career is set to open up in many new ways not yet seen and not yet heard. With a fresh and broader market on the horizon, we all expect to see great things from this young man. To top off his career he has started The Konty Charitable Foundation out of a desire for his music to do something more. To always give to those who are without and to use his resources and stage as a tool to inform, educate and alleviate hurt around the world. “My music is always going to be philanthropy, because I strive for that. I do not want it to be about monetary gain or materialism. It is about love, grace and finding a way to help a hurting humanity. Oh, and yes, sensuality,” Joseph.
